An exclusive Cruise Express ‘Unique Journey’
The majestic scenery of America’s Pacific North West, Canada and Alaska will combine in an exclusive, new cruise tour offered by Cruise Express this August.
The 23-night ‘Pacific North West and Alaska’ tour includes a seven-night Alaskan cruise and a tour inland into the Alaskan wilderness with stays in luxury lodges near wildlife-rich Denali National Park and America’s tallest peak, Mt McKinley.
Departing Australia on August 27, 2016, the guided itinerary begins with two nights in Portland. Here, guests will enjoy a tour through Oregon’s lush forests to the state’s highest waterfall, the picturesque, 189m-high Multnomah Falls, and highest peak, Mt Hood – a snow-capped volcano reflected in the placid lakes that surround it. The tour also takes in the premium vineyards, organic farms and fruit orchards of the Pacific North West, with guests able to sample the rich, local flavours.
Two nights are also spent in Seattle, with a dinner included on top of the city’s landmark Space Needle. Also included is a guided walking tour of Pike Place Market – one of America’s biggest and oldest farmers markets which showcases the produce of the Pacific North West and also its best coffee.
A ferry ride across to the Canadian city of Victoria allows guests to visit the world-famous Butchart Gardens before they fly in a seaplane to nearby Vancouver for visits to historic Gastown, the spectacular Capilano Suspension Bridge in the mountains and Stanley Park with its native totem poles.
From Vancouver, the tour moves to sea for a seven-night Alaskan cruise aboard Princess Cruises’ 1970-passenger Coral Princess. The cruise includes visits to Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway as well as breathtaking Glacier Bay and also College Fjord which boasts the highest number of tidewater glaciers in the world.
The cruise ends in Whittier where Princess Cruises’ own panoramic train takes guests direct to the Alaskan town of Talkeetna for a two-night stay at the Mt McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge. The lodge offers vistas of North America’s tallest peak, the 6200m-high Mt McKinley. Two nights are also spent at the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge close to Denali National Park where bears, moose and caribou roam free. Before flying home, the tour continues north to the Alaskan gold mining city of Fairbanks for another two nights, including the chance to pan for gold and a cruise on Chena River.
Including return airfares from Australia, 13 nights’ accommodation and the seven-night cruise, the package is available from $9999 per person, twin-share.
