Cunard has received a raft of honours in the special 30th anniversary edition of the Berlitz Cruising & Cruise Ships Guide, regarded as the encyclopaedic guide to cruising around the world.
Cunard’s accolades in the 2015 guide include two of the top ranking places in the “Top 3 Large Resort Ships” category for Queen Mary 2’s Grills Suites and Queen Elizabeth, while Queen Mary 2 has also earned top billing in new categories “Most Luxurious Suites” and “Best Cruise Ship Spas”. These recently added categories make the guide even more essential for first-time or veteran cruise-goers.
Cunard Chairman David Dingle said the Berlitz Cruising & Cruise Ships Guide was considered a definitive authority in the industry and the recognition for Cunard was a particular honour in the cruise line’s 175th anniversary year.
“It is extremely rewarding to see that Cunard is still being acknowledged for delivering a truly memorable experience at sea,” Mr Dingle said.
The Berlitz guide is written and meticulously researched each year by renowned expert Douglas Ward, who spends some 200 days a year aboard cruise ships and evaluates their facilities, standards of food, service, staff and hospitality. His ratings are compiled independently and unsubsidised by any sponsorship.
Cunard’s iconic liners Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth epitomise the grandeur and luxury of the ocean-going tradition, carrying forward a unique heritage symbolised by their fabled Transatlantic Crossings and World Cruises. Cunard’s current fleet began with the naming of Queen Mary 2 by Her Majesty The Queen in 2004, who returned to name Queen Elizabeth in 2010.
