CARNIVAL Corporation has signed a new
memorandum of understanding with a joint
venture partner in the Dominican Republic
for the construction of a new cruise ship
facility at a port named Maimon Bay,
located on the country’s northern coastline
west of Puerto Plata.
The US$65 million project will have
capacity for two large vessels, along with a
retail, dining and recreation complex as
well as a transportation hub.
It’s still subject to building approval, but
is expected to be operational by late 2013,
the company said.
