Two cruises aboard two great ships link hotel stays in Honolulu, New York, Rome, Fort Lauderdale and Dubai in the latest cruise holiday from Worldwide Cruise Centres (www.worldwidecruisecentres.com.au).
Called ‘The Great Global Getaway 2015’, this fly-double-cruise-and-stay combo uses Royal Caribbean’s amazing new ship Quantum of the Seas (so new that it’s official launch isn’t until this November!) and Celebrity Cruises’ magnificent Celebrity Constellation.
The holiday lasts 36 days if taken from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane and 35 days if taken from Adelaide or Perth. It costs from A$6999 twin share per person out of Sydney, A$7149 from Brisbane, A$7339 from Melbourne, A$7229 from Adelaide and A$7349 from Perth. Those prices are valid until 30 September 2014 or until sold out, whichever happens first. Ship’s tips are included on both cruises, and a bonus credit offer of US$75 per twin cabin applies on Celebrity Constellation.
‘The Great Global Getaway 2015’ includes airfares from Australia to New York (via Honolulu), as well as flights back from Rome (via Dubai) with quality full-service carrier, Emirates. The holiday also visits the Bahamas, Portuguese Madeira, Alicante in Spain and Gibraltar.
‘The Great Global Getaway 2015’ begins on 24 March 2015 with a flight from Australia to Hawaii. Three nights in a three-star hotel in Honolulu lets you explore and relax, stroll Waikiki Beach, maybe visit Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head and Hanauma Bay.
Jet on now to Mainland USA, with a night to refresh in a hotel in Newark before transferring to Cape Liberty, home port of Quantum of the Seas. A seven-night cruise to the Bahamas on this ship gives the opportunity to sample thrilling new onboard experiences like Ripcord by iFLY, a heart-pounding skydive experience; North Star, an adventure that takes you 100 metres in the air; cutting-edge transformative venues including SeaPlex, the largest indoor sports and entertainment complex at sea with bumper cars, roller skating and more.
Quantum of the Seas spans 18 decks, carries 4180 guests at double occupancy and offers 2090 staterooms. All shipboard main meals (excluding specialty restaurants) are included. So is most entertainment and tips aboard ship. You’ll visit Nassau in the Bahamas, once the haunt of Blackbeard the pirate, the isle of Cococay with its translucent waters and Port Canveral, home of America’s launch-pad, the Kennedy Space Centre.
Disembarking back in Cape Liberty, transfer by private car to New York for three nights in a Classic Double room at the newly opened Archer Hotel New York (or similar). The Archer is located in the heart of the New York City Garment District on 38th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Shop Fifth Avenue, stroll Times Square, visit jazz bars, browse great art in the Met and catch the street scene in SoHo and TriBeCa.
After enjoying the Big Apple, jet down to Fort Lauderdale for a night before boarding Celebrity Constellation and setting sail for Rome.
You’ll feel pampered from the moment you walk into Celebrity Constellation’s magnificent Grand Foyer, or savour a steak in the Tuscan Grille, or sip your favourite vodka in the ice-topped Martini Bar. All main meals are included, most entertainment, and tips aboard ship. A bonus credit offer of US$75 per twin cabin applies as well.
Celebrity Constellation takes you to Portugal’s Funchal on the island of Madiera. The approach to Funchal Harbour is one of the world’s most spectacular. Then the British Mediterranean outpost of Gibraltar on Spain’s southern tip, known for its boisterous troop of Barbary apes. A day in Alicante in Spain’s Valencia region leads on to Rome.
Your home for two nights in Rome is the Gambrinus Hotel, in an 18th-century building in the old Horti Sallustiani precinct in the city centre – perfectly placed for exploring. Breakfast is included.
Farewell Rome and jet to Dubai, Arabia’s most fascinating city, for a couple of nights in the Crowne Plaza Deira Hotel Dubai, including daily breakfasts. The hotel is situated in the city’s cultural heart, walking distance from two metro stations with access to old and new Dubai districts to sample Dubai’s legendary shopping.
After all that fun and variety, time to board your Emirates flight back to Australia
