‘La Vita e Bella’ is a memorable combination of Italian land touring and an 11-night Greece, Turkey and Malta cruise aboard Celebrity Constellation from Venice to Rome. It includes a full day tour of Italy’s wonderful Lake Como region, visiting the towns of Como and Bellagio, plus hotel stays in Venice, Verona, Milan and Rome.
This 18-night fly-cruise-and-stay holiday like no other is exclusive to Worldwide Cruise Centres (worldwidecruisecentres.com.au). Celebrity Constellation is a superb ship, consistently receiving top honours from Condé Nast’s readers survey, but it’s the land content that gives ‘La Vita e Bella’ its singular magic.
Special touches include a tour that skips the queues for the Colosseum, first class train travel, a walking tour of Venice, a gondola ride through Venetian canals and a boat cruise on an Italian lake.
‘La Vita e Bella’ (Italian for ‘Life is Beautiful’) includes flights from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth to Milan and return from Rome. It costs from A$7799 twin share per person, price valid until 18 October 2015 or until it sells out.
If you book Oceanview or above cabin category, a promotional offer gives a choice of shipboard ‘perks’, such as unlimited free internet or pre-paid ship’s gratuities.
‘La Vita e Bella’ begins on 1 August 2016 with a flight to Milan, Italy’s capital of fashion and design. Here you’ll stay two nights in a four-star hotel. One day includes a visit to one of Italy’s most famous lakes, Como, with time for sightseeing, a boat cruise and exploration of the historic towns of Como and Bellagio. A walking tour of Bellagio includes a visit to the Cathedral and boat cruise on the lake.
Next, transfer to Milan Station, catching the fast train and travelling First Class to Verona, the setting for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. You’ll be transferred to your four-star hotel for the night, with breakfast included in the morning, as it is in all other hotels in ‘La Vita e Bella’.
Another First Class train journey whisks you to Venice, with two nights at a four-star hotel in this great maritime city. A walking tour from St Marks Square shows you the city’s monuments: St. Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace, the Campanile, Marco Polo’s house and Malibran Theatre among them. Glide along intricate Venetian waterways by gondola next, a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many people.
After the delights of Venice, embark on Celebrity Constellation, your home on the Mediterranean for the next 11 nights as you visit highlights of Greece, Turkey and Malta on a cruise from Venice to Rome.
You’ll feel pampered from the moment you walk into Celebrity Constellation’s magnificent Grand Foyer, or savour a steak in the Tuscan Grille, or sip your favourite vodka in the ice-topped Martini Bar. All main meals are included.
If you book in an Oceanview or above cabin category, a promotion lets you choose two of the following perks free:
Option 1: Classic Beverage Package
Option 2: Pre-Paid Gratuities
Option 3: US$300 onboard credit total per twin cabin
Option 4: Unlimited internet aboard
Another option gives you all four of the above perks, plus an upgrade to a Premium Beverage Package, for an extra A$60 per person per day.
First port of call is Katakolon on Greece’s Ionian coast, gateway to ancient Olympia, home of the original Olympic Games. Then volcanic Santorini, the perfect Greek island, a classic seascape with whitewashed houses accented by sea-blue roofs. You’ll spend a day here and the following day in Athens, full of fun restaurants and classical wonders. Perhaps toast Greece’s capital with an ouzo!
A day in the Turkish port town of Kusadasi lets you visit Ephesus, one of Asia Minor’s best-preserved Greek-Roman cities. Next port is Valletta, capital of Malta and smallest national capital in the European Union. Celebrity Constellation overnights here, then sails on for a day in Messina, giving a taste of the rugged beauty of Sicily.
Disembarking in Rome, you’ve two nights in a four-star hotel to relax and explore. Included sightseeing takes in the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, the Roman Forum, even the temple housing the altar where Julius Caesar was cremated.
Time for a Roman cappuccino and biscotti before winging your way back home to Australia.
