♦ Aurora Expeditions were the first cruise
company to offer polar diving in Antarctica
back in 2003.
♦ When diving in the Poles a dry suit is
required as water temperatures in
Antarctica’s Southern Ocean tend to sit
around zero degrees Celsius.
♦ Interestingly it can often be -2 degrees
colder when swimming next to an iceberg,
due to the freshwater runoff.
♦ Aurora Expeditions undertook its first
overland crossing of the Island of South
Georgia in 1998.
♦ Every year since ‘98 the company has lead
12 climbers on a pilgrimage following in Sir
Ernest Shackleton’s footsteps. In all,
Aurora Expeditions have lead 180 climbers
successfully across the spectacular and
historic South Georgia.
♦ Each Antarctic Season, Aurora Expeditions
kayakers paddle approximately 750km of the
Antarctic Ocean across 11 voyages.
