FRENCH cruise ship operator Ponant has announced the purchase of Paul Gauguin Cruises (CW breaking news).
Ponant said the acquisition would be a good brand marriage, as both cruise lines combine “exceptional itineraries with luxury hotel services and fine cuisine to create memorable experiences at sea”.
The announcement will not see any major structural changes take place at Paul Gauguin Cruises, with its Chief Executive Officer Diane Moore to stay on in the position, along with her team who are based in Bellevue, Washington, USA.
“We are pleased to welcome Paul Gauguin Cruises to our Ponant family,” noted Ponant’s President and founder Jean-Emmanuel Sauvee.
“We share the same core values..the synergy between our operations makes this the perfect collaboration while preserving the unique DNA of both brand experiences,” he added.
Ponant guests will now have access to a range of new itineraries in French Polynesia and the South Pacific under the deal, with Paul Gauguin’s CEO Diane Moore hailing the purchase as beneficial to both lines’ guests.
“We are excited about introducing our guests to the wider world of Ponant and to welcoming Ponant guests on board Paul Gauguin,” she said.
“As we join the Ponant family, we remain dedicated to our shared passion for authentic experiences, high quality service and sustainable practices”.
