BUDAPEST’S Balna shopping mall (pictured), known as “the Whale”, is set to be turned into a cruise ship passenger terminal for Danube River cruises.
The plan was announced by Hungarian Tourism Agency head Zoltan Guller, and has reportedly received bipartisanship support from local government.
The reworked Balna would also include a permanent exhibition and conference room, gastronomic “experience stands” and an information point.
Last year, Budapest welcomed around half a million river cruise ship passengers, according to the Hungarian Tourism Agency’s calculations.
