The cruise line’s third vessel will be named after the Australian Antarctic explorer, Cruise Weekly can reveal.
Cruise Weekly can exclusively reveal Aurora Expeditions’ next ship will be named Douglas Mawson, in honour of the Australian geologist who was one of the key expedition leaders during the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration.
The ship will first sail in December 2025, with her inaugural voyage to be the ‘Mawson’s Antarctica’ cruise, which will depart from Hobart.
Chief Marketing Officer Hayley Peacock-Gower told CW Douglas Mawson will be the most modern, newest ship in her class, carrying an average of 154 passengers, and featuring more stateroom categories than Aurora’s other two vessels.
